I was 12 years old when I begged my parents for sewing lessons. There, I made the dress I'm proudly wearing in the photo. After my Bat Mitzvah, I saved my money and bought a used sewing machine advertised in the local newspaper. I was thrilled to make clothes for myself, as I was a chubby kid that couldn't find clothes in my size or my favorite colors. I was hooked on sewing! I sewed through college and beyond, making clothes and costumes for my family and a variety of fiber accents for our home,

Embroidery
As a kid, my mother taught me to knit and embroider, but I preferred to sew. Later, I taught myself needlepoint, Hardanger (Norwegian embroidery), and machine embroidery. I made Jewish prayer shawls (called tallits) and even taught classes in tallit making. I also sewed and embroidered a large wedding canopy (Chuppah) for my sons and extended family. Then, I taught myself quilting, and machine embroidery.

Doll Clothes
Presently, I'm in a sewing club that makes items for communities that are in need. We make duffle bags for foster kids, blankets for newborns whose mothers are in shelters, bedrolls for street teens, quilts for veterans and kids in shelters, and pillow beds for animals in shelters.
